Move Planner: Prepare One Inventory for More Comparable Removal Quotes
See how the private Move Planner preview uses a structured inventory, photos and recorded changes to support clearer removal quotes.
In this guide
A useful moving inventory gives each firm the same starting information: what is moving, how it is packed and what access looks like. Move Planner is our customer-facing app for preparing that record and keeping the quoting journey together. It is currently a password-protected preview, not an unrestricted public service.
Start with rooms, then check forgotten spaces
List the main furniture and boxes room by room. Include lofts, sheds, garages and outdoor items where they are part of the move. Use quantities and clear descriptions rather than a list that says only “bedroom furniture”. Explain whether boxes are packed or estimated.
Flag awkward, fragile or high-value items. A photograph can help explain a piece of furniture, but it does not replace dimensions or a specialist survey where one is needed. Avoid capturing sensitive documents or unnecessary personal details in pictures.
Read how to prepare for a removal survey before building the inventory.
Give firms the same version
Quotes are easier to compare when their scope starts from the same inventory. The preview supports a customer-controlled move brief shared with selected firms in the workflow. That does not make their services identical: one might include packing while another expects you to pack everything.
Compare the quote’s lines, inclusions, exclusions, VAT treatment, deposit and validity, alongside inventory changes since it was priced. Our quote-comparison guide explains the questions to ask. Do not treat the cheapest headline as the cheapest complete move.
Keep changes visible
If you add furniture or change quantities, tell the firm before moving day. The app records inventory versions and supports a process for firm-proposed changes that the customer can review. Later price variations can be accepted or declined rather than silently replacing the original amount.
For example, adding a wardrobe and eight boxes after a survey may require another decision about vehicle space or crew time. The useful result is an updated agreement, not an assumption that the original price covers every addition.
Know what acceptance means
The workflow binds acceptance to a specific quote version. Before accepting, check the firm, service, dates, addresses, amounts and terms. Keep critical booking details accessible independently in case you cannot open the app on moving day.
The tool helps organise information. It does not guarantee a quote’s accuracy, a firm’s attendance, a saving or the absence of damage. Firms remain responsible for assessing and delivering their agreed service.
Pricing and availability
Move Planner is in private preview and is not yet open to the public; contact us for pricing and availability. Households without preview access can still use our UK cost guide and survey checklist to prepare a written inventory.
Is this a replacement for an in-person survey?
Not automatically. A firm may need a video or in-person survey, measurements or specialist checks before it can confirm the plan and quote.
